Following successful completion of the Medical Assisting program and passing the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) NHA Certification exam, students have the option to be placed in a clinical externship of up to one week at a hospital, laboratory or clinic. The purpose of the clinical externship is to allow students to be exposed to an actual patient care environment and clinical setting where you will utilize the skills learned in class.
Externships are customized to fit the needs of the facility and student but all require full day time availability. Students may need to complete physical assessment, background testing and TB testing prior to patient contact depending on the specific requirements of each location. Generally students are placed within one to two weeks of completing all of the required components. |
